Image Submission Guidelines
Once you order your Splendid Beast, the single most important part of the process will be the pictures you upload. We base all of our paintings on your images, so it’s crucial you send us good ones!
Look at the diagram below. Most of our shop designs use a forward-facing body. Your pet’s head should be in the same position as the design for best results.
Try to follow these guidelines:
- Take the picture in the daytime with soft sunlight on the pet
- Use a smartphone or high-quality digital camera
- Ensure the whole face is visible
- Make the head angle match the painting
- Include images of the pet’s body if it’s going to be in the painting
Good Example
✓ Forward facing
✓ Natural lighting
✓ Visible face
✓ Clear / High resolution
Bad Example
– Angled face
– Poor lighting
– Ear not visible
– Compressed / Low resolution
Bad Example
– Instagram filter
– Poor lighting
– Ear not visible
Not sure whether your images will work? Email them to us and we’ll let you know.
We often paint portraits of pets that have passed away, so we understand it’s not always possible to follow all of the guidelines above. In most cases, we can still make it work.
